Editorial - Time for peace?

On 22nd September 2017 North Korea’s supreme leader Kim Jong Un called U.S. President Donald Trump a “mentally deranged dotard” in a statement that was as unusual for its directness as it was for its revival of an archaic English insult. The swipe came within days of Trump threatening to “totally destroy” North Korea at his maiden speech to the United Nations, at roughly the same time as he coined the nickname “little rocket man” for the North Korean leader.

Breguet - Interview with Thierry Esslinger, CEO Breguet

Interview de Thierry Esslinger, CEO de Breguet

At Baselworld, Breguet devoted a good deal of importance to the announcement of the Race for Water partnership.
We were indeed keen to turn the spotlight on this fantastic project. Breguet has long since been driven by a thirst for innovation, and Nicolas G. Hayek Sr. was extremely concerned with finding technologies designed to safeguard the environment, as expressed through his founding of Belenos Clean Power. It turns out that Race for Water is a response to questions raised by this quest for sustainability, and we realized right from our first encounter with the organization that we shared the same convictions in this regard. It is fantastic to see entrepreneurs such as Marco Simeoni reflect our own aspirations regarding these issues and to be able to undertake a long-term endeavor along with them. Race for Water aims to achieve a blue economy and a lifestyle ideal designed to actively safeguard our planet. We believe in this vision. The Race for Water program is completely defined with 35 stages around the world and specific experiments – all of which does not preclude learning from each other and exchanging views with Belenos, and potentially extending our initial partnership slated to run through to 2012. It would be irresponsible not to champion such a noble cause.

The Ulysse Nardin Executive Skeleton Tourbillon Hyperspace is docking at Cannes. The watch brand and the Cannes Film Festival have joined forces to ignite a new spark of art, beauty and excellence. The alliance is obvious. Making a watch and making a film have much in common: many ingredients, expert hands and innovative thinking. Editors and actors both have key roles to play in the creation of a film, just as angleurs and painters work within their specialties in the making of the Executive Skeleton Tourbillon Hyperspace. There is no formula for making art but when the cogs mesh and the lights go down, the experience is magical.
