In 2018, Anonimo served for the fourth time running as official timekeeper for the Leopard Racing Team competing in the Moto3 world championship category, which offers young drivers a platform towards Moto2 and MotoGP. At the end of 2017 in Valencia, newly crowned Moto3 World Champion Joan Mir presented the first Anomino timepiece dedicated to Leopad, the Nautilo Leopard, attired in the turquoise blue that makes the Team’s motorbikes so instantly recognizable on racing tracks, as well as in Leopard black. Since Joan Mir was competing in Moto2 this year, the two new 2018 Leopard Team Moto3 riders – Enea Bastianini and Lorenzo Dalla Porta, both from of Italy – wore the watch throughout season, although they were unable to match Mir’s performance. They respectively finished 4th and 5th in the 2018 Moto3 overall final rankings. While Bastianini will be moving up to the Moto2 category next season, Dalla Porta will continue competing in Moto3 with the Leopard Racing team, wearing the new 2018 Nautilo Leopard firmly strapped to his wrist!

The Luminor Regatta appellation was first seen on an Officine Panerai watch in 2001, the same year that WorldTempus made its debut on the Internet. The Luminor Marina Regatta 2001 (PAM 107) was a limited edition of 500 which unusually had the year on the dial under the regatta inscription. It was a standard time-only piece with small seconds on the left and a magnified date on the right. A GMT function was added the next year and the year was dropped from the dial (PAM 156) in a limited run of 300 pieces. The first chronograph version came in 2003 with the PAM 168 reference (a limited series of 399), followed by a Luminor Sumbersible in 2004 (PAM 199), which was limited to 500.

IWC Schaffhausen - Laureus Charity Night 2018

Laureus Charity Night 2018

Every child should have the chance to shape their own future for the better and that is why the Laureus Foundation Switzerland devotes itself to charity sports projects such as "Laureus Girls in Sport" or "Laureus Cavallo", which set out to create equal opportunities for children in Switzerland. The foundation’s projects are centred around promoting exercise and integration among socially, financially or physically disadvantaged young people. "We are immensely proud to be a member of the Laureus family. The staggering total raised allows the foundation to continue to support children and young people through sports projects, to inspire them and to create sporting moments they will never forget," explains Linus Fuchs, IWC Managing Director Switzerland and member of the Laureus Foundation Switzerland’s Board of Trustees. Laureus supports more than 10,000 children in Switzerland by way of four charitable sports projects per year. The Laureus Charity Night is the foundation’s most important fundraising event and has been held every autumn since 2007.

Editorial - The Lady by GMT special issue is out

The Lady by GMT special issue is out
The Lady by GMT special issue is out

In a highly symbolic gesture, the women-only special issue from our partner GMT, which first appeared ten years ago, has inverted the words of its title: GMT Lady is now Lady by GMT. The change is significant: not only has the layout been given a thorough overhaul, it also has completely new content and contributors. The publication no longer reads like the only watch magazine devoted to ladies’ watches and jewellery; it’s a women’s magazine focusing on watches and jewellery. This welcome initiative is the work of a steering committee made up entirely of women, chaired by GMT Publishing’s sales director, Liah Millasson. I thank them wholeheartedly for their hard work over the summer, and I trust our readers will appreciate the result. The 100-page magazine is now available on newsstands in Switzerland and on international digital platforms, but WorldTempus is bringing it to you now through this link.

What is a women’s watch? In days gone by, it was a watch designed for women. Today, it’s a watch bought by women. The difference is significant. Women have been buying men’s watches for a long time, and brands responded by launching men’s watch collections, for women. What this meant, by and large, was adding a bit of bling to the dial and the bracelet. So what happened to the watches designed solely for women? There are a few left.

HYT - New H4 quartet

New H4 quartet

HYT unveils four new H4 models shedding light on its intrinsic fascination with making the paradoxical meaningful. Loyal to the brand’s fil rouge, these colorful timepieces showcase the power of the past and future to assign the present context and content. These watches also add a new dimension to the combined energy of two potentially polemic opposites – light and liquid – with the smallest dynamo ever invented, patent pending. There’s an instant of tension when creativity succeeds in replacing an enigma with enlightenment. The new H4 watches were born of such a moment.
